The fake instagram Polaroid photo of my real Polaroid camera
I've owned two in my life - My first Polaroid was one of the later models. I'm not sure where it ended up, but as a kid I loved it. When my sister and I were little, I dressed her up, put make-up all over her face, and we did a number of photo shoots with it.
My second is the Polaroid SX-70 (pictured above, and less functional), which now sits on the mantel in our living room. It was the first folding SLR camera to take integral instant film, and it was discontinued after 1977. My husband and I found it while we were helping our in-laws pack up for their move to Greece a few years ago, and I'm so enamored with it. My father-in-law had purchased it new, and it sat in a box for a few decades. Now it's my new project.
I was thrilled when I learned about The Impossible Project, a group of Polaroid enthusiasts who have recreated a new photographic instant system, and are offering Polaroid owners film and products to revive their old dusty Polaroids. I'm going to buy some film for my SX-70 and hope to share some photos soon!
